   Prince of everlasting peace. Rf:

Rf: Angels, saints, and nations sing:
     "Praised be Jesus, Christ, our King;
Lord of earth and sky and sea,
     King of love on Calvary."

2. Christ, thou King of truth and might,
    Be to us eternal light,
Till in peace each nation rings
With thy praises, King of kings. Rf:

PSALMODY

Ant. 1 He has sent deliverance to his people and established his covenant forever.

Psalm 111
God's marvelous works

We are lost in wonder at all that you have done for us, our Lord and mighty God (Revelation 15:3).

I will thank the Lord with all my heart
in the meeting of the just and their assembly.
Great are the works of the Lord;
to be pondered by all who love them.

Majestic and glorious his work,
his justice stands firm for ever.
He makes us remember his wonders.
The Lord is compassion and love.

He gives food to those fear him;
keeps his covenant in mind.
He has shown his might to his people
by giving them the lands of the nations.

His works are justice and truth:
his precepts are all of them sure,
standing firm for ever and ever:
they are made in uprightness and truth.

He has sent deliverance to his people
and established his covenant for ever.

To fear the Lord is the first stage of wisdom;
all who do so prove themselves wise.
His praise shall last for ever!

Ant. He has sent deliverance to his people and established his covenant forever.

Psalm Prayer
Merciful and gentle Lord, you are the crowning glory of the saints. Give us, your children, the gift of obedience which is the beginning of wisdom, so that we may do what you command and be filled with your mercy.

Ant. 2  Tell among the nations his glory, and his wonders among all the peoples.

Psalm 138
Thanksgiving

The kings of the earth will bring his glory and honor into the holy city (see Revelation 21:24)

I thank you, Lord, with all my heart,
you have heard the words of my mouth.
In the presence of the angels I will bless you.
I will adore before your holy temple.

I thank you for faithfulness and love
which excel all ever knew of you.
On the day I called, you answered;
you increased the strength of my soul.

All earth’s kings shall thank you
when they hear the words of your month.
They shall sing of the Lord’s ways:
“How great is the glory of the Lord!”

The Lord is high yet he looks on the lowly
and the haughty he knows from afar.
Though I walk in the midst of affliction
you give me life and frustrate my foes.

You stretch out your hands and save me,
your hand will do all things for me.
Your love, O Lord, is eternal,
discard not the work of your hands.

Ant. Tell among the nations his glory, and his wonders among all the peoples.

Psalm Prayer
Listen to the prayers of your Church, Lord God; in the presence of the angels we praise your name. You keep the proud at a distance and look upon the lowly with favor. Stretch out your hands to us in our suffering, perfect in us the work of your love and bring us to life.

Ant. 3  With the Lord there is mercy and fullness of redemption.

Canticle: Colossians 1:12-20
Christ the first-born of all creation and the first-born from the dead

Let us give thanks to the Father
for having made you worthy
to share the lot of the saints in light.

He rescued us from the power of darkness
and brought us into the kingdom of his beloved Son.
Through him we have redemption,
the forgiveness of our sins.

He is the image of the invisible God,
the first-born of all creatures.
In him everything in heaven and on earth was created,
things visible and invisible.

All were created through him;
all were created for him.
He is before all else that is.
In him everything continues in being.

It is he who is head of the body, the church!
He who is the beginning,
the first-born of the dead,
so primacy may be his in everything.

It pleased God to make absolute fullness reside in him
and, by means of him, to reconcile everything in his person,
both on earth and in the heavens,
making peace through the blood of his cross.

Ant.  With the Lord there is mercy and fullness of redemption.

READING
Romans 3:24-26

All are justified through the free gift of his grace by being redeemed in Christ Jesus, who was appointed by God to sacrifice his life so as to win reconciliation through faith. In this way God makes his justice known: first, for the past, when sins went unpunished because he held his hand; then, for the present age, by showing positively that he is just, and that he justifies everyone who believes in Jesus.

RESPONSORY

We ourselves saw and we testify.
– We ourselves saw and we testify.

That the Father sent his Son
– to be the sacrifice that takes our sins away.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
– We ourselves saw and we testify.

GOSPEL CANTICLE

Ant. This is the love I mean: not our love for God, but God's love for us when he sent his Son to be the sacrifice that takes our sins away.

Canticle of Mary
Luke 1:46-55
The soul rejoices in the Lord

My + soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, †
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior *
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed: †
the Almighty has done great things for me, *
and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear him *
in every generation.

He has shown the strength of his arm, *
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, *
and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things, *
and the rich he has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of his servant Israel *
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers, *
to Abraham and his children for ever.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and will be for ever. Amen.

Ant. This is the love I mean: not our love for God, but God's love for us when he sent his Son to be the sacrifice that takes our sins away.

INTERCESSIONS

Since God, our Father, gave us his Son as our Redeemer, we may be certain, after such a gift, that he will not refuse and good that he can give. Let us therefore pray to him:
– Holy Father, give us true fellowship with your Son.

Your invitation to share the joys of heaven was rejected by sinful man, but renewed by our Holy Redeemer,
– may we put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and be filled with his Spirit.

Jesus Christ, anointed with the oil of gladness, lived, died and rose again to give you glory in the sight of all nations,
– may we devote ourselves whole-heartedly to promoting your glory and serving our brothers and sisters.

You sent your Son to shed his blood and restore the world to peace with you,
– may we find peace as one flock with but one shepherd.

You have admitted the holy virgins to your marriage banquet,
– receive all those we mourn into the Kingdom of the blessed.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

CONCLUDING PRAYER

Eternal Father, to conquer death and bring us back to life you made your only Son Redeemer of mankind. May we ever remember your kindness, cling to you with unfailing love and so enjoy the benefits of your Redemption. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
