Mass of Thanksgiving

On October 14, 2018, Mass of Thanksgiving for the Beatification of Blessed Alphonse Marie Eppinger, was celebrated by the Bishop of the Pittsburgh Diocese, David Zubik, in the Chapel of the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer.

The Holy Mass began with the entrance procession, where the relics of Blessed Alphonse Marie were carried by the Regional Superior, followed by the Bishop, two Priests, two Deacons, and assistants.

Bishop Zubik greeted all present for the Mass. Among the guests present were members of Mother Alphonse’s family who reside in Pittsburgh: Nancy Schano Scherbel, Mother Alphonse’s third generation niece, her husband Warren and their niece Jeanine. We were happy that four Sisters from our sister community, the Sisters of the Redeemer in Meadowbrook (Philadelphia area) were able to join us in the festivities.

In his homily, Bishop Zubik encouraged us to follow the example of Blessed Alphonse Marie, who developed her baptismal grace since her early childhood by avoiding sin, making reparation for sins, and by doing the work of mercy.

The Mass was beautiful, sung by our Sisters. After greeting all who attended the celebrative Mass, in the lobby, Bishop Zubik joined our Sisters and guests at a luncheon served in the Motherhouse before returning to his ministry at the cathedral. Refreshement for all who attended the Holy Mass was served in lobby.

Blessed Alphonse Marie pray for us!
